12 Mission in Our Context
This final conversation takes a serious look at our context at the Tusculum Church of Christ. More than 50% of the population around us are people in their 30s, often with young children. We ask some serious questions about our practices, which were a terrific fit for the mid-1900s when we were growing rapidly, and whether our practices are the best possible fit for the actual people we are trying to reach.
We look at a couple of video cultural artifacts to help us conceptualize the differences between culture before and culture now.
Scripture should, of course, be the final authority for Christian beliefs and practices, but have we sometimes enforced practices that Scripture didn't intend? Are these helping us or hurting us? Mark and Laura make a few suggestions for our church's consideration about where we should go from here.
This is an earnest conversation about our own context. We would encourage other churches to look seriously at their own, as well.
